Using Bingo Dabbers in your First Grade Learning Centers might just change EVERYTHING!  You know why?  Because kids love them so much that they’ll even work during recess!  Honest!

What are Bingo Dabbers?

Have you ever played BINGO?  Bingo is a fun and easy game.  You simply “dab” the number that the caller yells out.  The object of the game is to complete a line horizontally or vertically.  To play, you need a bingo dabber.  As shown above, they are bottles with a sponge on the top which releases the colored ink when pressed down.  You will also find it spelled “dabber” and “dauber.”  Also, you might hear bingo markers.

How do I use Bingo Dabbers for Learning Centers?

In the classroom, we don’t use them for BINGO, we use them for First Grade Learning Centers!  There are games specifically made for using these fun dabbers.  Math and Phonics games are very popular!

Check out is video!

These basic addition and subtraction Bingo Dabber games are fall-tastic! Students only need a dabber, a pencil and a paper clip for a spinner. No colored ink required. Click here to check them out.

What makes Bingo Dabbers so much fun?

I’ve never asked a child why they like them so much, but I’m assuming it’s the spongy ink that comes out!  And… there are so many beautiful colors.  They can even use them for art projects.

Why do teachers like the daubers?

Teachers aren’t rich and they are super busy!  They don’t have money to be using card stock and colored ink for learning centers.  The pieces get lost then they have to spend time reprinting and laminating.  They certainly don’t have time to be cutting out a lot of games for their students.  Bingo Dabber games are LOW PREP.  Just print and add your dabbers, a pencil and a paperclip.  You can find activities for all seasons!

How do Bingo Dabber Games for 1st Grade Learning Centers work?

If you read the paragraph above, you might be wondering why you need a paperclip?  Simple.  A paperclip and a pencil make a super easy spinner.  Two things I know you have in your classroom.  If not, they are super cheap!

To use the spinner, kids will hold the pencil in one hand a flick the paperclip with the other.

On the activity below, the student would answer 2 + 3 by dabbing the 5.

Where can I buy Bingo Dabbers?

These fun learning tools are widely available, but they can be expensive.  I have found that the neighborhood bingo parlor has the best prices at about a dollar or so per dabber.  You don’t have to play to buy them.  Just show up before a game starts and grab a handful.  You probably need four or five per learning center.  (depending on how many students you have at each station.)  If you don’t have a bingo center near you, check out the link below.
